  • MODULE M02

Module M02 The status of women entrepreneurship and the needs in adult learning training

This Module introduces the learners to the importance of women in the global labor force, the added value of women entrepreneurs, how the organizations can increase the number of women entrepreneurs and the policy options for strengthening the entrepreneurial competences of women.
Entrepreneurial learning should be given an early start to develop entrepreneurship skills in boys and girls according to their own needs and interests. It should be accessible to all and embedded in a culture of lifelong learning. Entrepreneurship should become a key competence in curricula. Special attention should be paid to developing leadership skills in girls from the early phases of education and to broadening their exposure to technology-related issues. Learning has to provide common and equal opportunities, regardless of gender, to engage in any type of employment, to succeed in any sector of the economy and to run a business. Measures should be taken to overcome prejudiced and discriminative attitudes towards women in business or in leadership positions: dedicated policies and education programmes must focus on developing self-efficacy among women entrepreneurs and promote their role in top management and company boards. Adult education and training also needs to be employed to promote the entrepreneurial potential of women and to encourage their own business development.

After the completion of the Module the trainee will be able to describe the basics of female entrepreneurship in the Balkan Region and the possibility of its development. Training for entrepreneurial women should be built on a thorough analysis of their training needs, both before, during and after they move into business. Training needs analysis for women’s entrepreneurship is now a focal point in policy research.

  • MODULE M06

Module M06 How to engage in public policy advocacy in each Balkan country

Why should business associations engage in advocacy? Because many times, the best solution to a problem, the knowledge needed to formulate a solution to a problem, stays with the business community. The business community is the one affected directly by certain laws. They know exactly what barriers [to doing business] they have. So in many cases, they have the solution. The issue is how do they transform that knowledge and transfer that knowledge to the government or to the parliament so that it becomes an effective policy? And that is the advocacy road. When do you advocate? You advocate every day – when you’re trying to influence policies, when you’re trying to amend a piece of legislation, when you’re trying to change a regulation, whether at the central level or at the regional level, then this means that you are advocating.

The current module will include basic information about policy advocacy in general and how the entrepreneurs can use it for supporting their company’s aims.

  • MODULE M08

Module M08 Women Entrepreneurship and crisis

The global economic crisis, of the kind the world has never known, had changed the rules of the global economy. The crisis caused the collapse of large companies, large-scale firing of workers, a reduction in the standard of living and a reduction in the demand for services, especially personal services of the type women tend to offer in their businesses. Another characteristic, as serious in its implications, is the shortage in credit for the business sector. Businesses have been having difficulty in gaining capital from financial institutions. Since women always have hard time obtaining funds, the economic crisis worsened even more their situation. In addition, women did not seem able to benefit from the solutions offered.

The main objectives of the current module focus on the current situation in the business sector after the global economic crisis, the ways for dealing with the difficult situation and the main points of interest of each company facing problems in its operations.

  • MODULE M09

Module M09 Exchanging best practices in entrepreneurship and business organisations, social sciences

As your business grows, you will need to change to adapt to new circumstances. You can experiment with different ways of working to see which suits your business best. But this approach is inefficient and may lead you to make inappropriate decisions. A far more effective way of making changes is to look at how successful businesses operate and to introduce their ways of working into your business.
Evaluating how your operations compare with the most effective and profitable enterprises, and then using their most successful elements - the "best practices" in your own business, can make a big difference.

Best practices means finding - and using - the best ways of working to achieve your business objectives. It involves keeping up to date with the ways that successful businesses operate - in your sector and others - and measuring your ways of working against those used by the market leaders.

Businesses need to constantly seek new ways to expand and diversify their customer base in order to remain a viable option in a competitive market. Marketing texts, press releases, technical specifications, business presentations, all of these require good use of English vocabulary with perfect English grammar in order to achieve the desired effect.

  • MODULE M11

Module M11 How to advocate in Brussels

The ultimate goal of the project is to empower women business leaders to make their voice heard and assert their positions in a democratic manner. The long-term strategy is to create a network of like-minded business groups that can reach across borders and advocate for their legitimate interests in relation to the European institutions.
The current module includes information, tools and guidelines on the advocacy process in Brussels with the goal of creating a transparent and competitive business environment in which women are treated as equal partners who work to solve policy barriers and create stability in the business and social environments. In the 21st century it is crucial to empower women business to make their voice heard and assert their positions in a democratic manner, to integrate them into business life and the decision-making process, in order to increase their visibility in the region.

The main objectives of the module include the following:
    • To increase the capacity of businesswomen to play a more active role in national and international public policy debates and in the business community, and establish a dialogue to promote democratic practices and free market economic principles.
    • To introduce to the participants information and knowledge on the advocacy process at European level.
